We awoke to sunny skies and a view of the Falmouth harbor. After a leisurely breakfast we endured the UK immigration folks which was not a big deal.
We tendered ashore at about 10:00 and and spent a couple of hours walking around the city of Falmouth. Interesting shopping and lots of people around.
Our afternoon bus tour took us to St. Michael's Mount, related to the Mont-Saint-Michael in Normandy. This is located near the town of Penzants.
Our unusually nice weather afforded a great view of the castle and the rather large Beach before us. This area is known as Cornwall.
We then drove on to Lands end on the southernmost tip of England. Spectacular views of cliffs above the ocean and an interesting collection of shops and eateries. Great walking trails, too!
On the way back to Falmouth we learned about the interesting history of mining for tin and copper in this region back in the 1800s. There are many examples of mining facilities left in ruins after the markets collapsed.
We were back at the ship by 6:00. After a brief rest we went to the dining room for dinner.
We were left with a positive impression of Falmouth. It's a very attractive town and would be worthy of a future visit.
Tomorrow we are off to Stonehenge.
