Woke up today to beautiful sunshine in spite of the fact that the weather report would have had you believe otherwise.
Today is our day to travel from Portland to Stonehenge by bus. We left about about 10AM, touring the seaside town of Weymouth along the way.
Weymouth has a beautiful beach area and large sailboat harbor. Surely it is a there active summer retreat.
We reached Stonehenge that about noon after traveling through beautiful green rolling hills.
Many fields of bright yellow canola.
We were surprised at how crowded Stonehenge was, but considering it was Easter week, maybe to be expected. Great photo ops!
In spite of all the people, it was easy to get a good view of these stones. In fact, it was almost a bit anticlimactic. Considering what everyone knows about Stonehenge, before actually seeing it. It wasn't as big as I was expecting.
We drove back to the ship for about two and a half hours going through the town of Salisbury on the way.
Our guide on the bus, a lady named Babbs, was excellent, offering a constant stream of very good information and tidbits. Nearly 5 hours on a bus is tedious, but the trip was well worth it.!
